Episode 1
This season sees the return of 24 former players who have gained their All-Star status, they were split up into 12 pairs of 2, each of them paired up with an ally of theirs from a past season. Among the players included former winners Penner, Mookie, & Val. Fan Favorites Jessica, Ozzy & Sierra. Villains Dan, Heidi & Rachel. Trainwrecks Liliana & Dale. Arrogant strategists Cassandra & Drew. Over the top characters Rocky & Sugar. UTR players Flicka & Nate. And Dominant players like Nadiya.
They were split up into 3 tribes of 8, 4 ally partnerships on each tribe.
Pohnpei Tribe: Dan/Sierra, Mookie/Ozzy, Jessica/Nate, Hayden/Katie
Nauru Tribe: Laura/Rachel, Drew/Dale, Flicka/Sugar, Rocky/Liliana
Saipan Tribe: Penner/Cass, Val/Nadiya, Heidi/Tammy, Richard/Chris
For the first part of the game, only one tribe would be granted immunity, whereas the 2 losing tribes would go to tribal each round and vote someone out. The twist for the first part of the game was that once your partner gets voted out, you get immunity until the inevitable tribe swap, whenever that may be. So you could either work with your partner and try to make it out of the first part alive together, or you could decide to turn on them and give yourself immunity to relax for the first part of the game. The last pair standing in the game will ultimately receive Individual Immunity Necklaces which can be played up to and through the Final 5. In addition, there was only ONE Hidden Immunity Idol in play for the first part of the game. Meaning only one person out of all 3 tribes could get it.
The first challenge of the season was for an advantage in the first immunity challenge, and it was a puzzle challenge. Only one person from each tribe could compete. Whoever finished first would get a big advantage for their tribe, second place would get a smaller advantage, and last place would get no advantage at all. Laura represented the blue Nauru Tribe, Dan represented the yellow Pohnpei Tribe, and Heidi represented the purple Saipan tribe. Laura & Heidi finished 1st & 2nd respectively, giving their tribes the advantages.
At Pohnpei, the Bros of the tribe (Dan/Mookie/Ozzy/Hayden/Nate) all seemed to get along together, leaving the 3 girls (Sierra/Katie/Jessica) on the outs. However, allies Dan/Sierra were both still very tight with each other and planned to work together to get themselves both to the swap.
At Nauru, the two ally pairs of Drew/Dale & Flicka/Sugar seemed to get along well, as they appeared to come together as a strong foursome.
At Saipan, it quickly became evident that there were 3 outcasts in the tribe. Chris, for being a weirdo. Nadiya, for not seeming all that interesting to the others. And lastly, Tammy for not being as active. However eventually Tammy showed up more often and got more integrated with the tribe.
At the Immunity challenge, Nauru won Immunity, as the big advantage Laura won for them came in handy. Pohnpei & Saipan were sent to Tribal Council.
At Pohnpei's TC, Katie was pulled from the game for being inactive. Hayden was granted immunity until the tribe swap, for being her ally.
At Saipan's TC, Chris was unanimously voted out 7-1, giving Richard immunity until the tribe swap, for being his ally.
